Cynthia Fonseca

I’m a painter with a passion for capturing emotions, storytelling, and helping people feel seen through art. My journey started with a fascination for drawing faces, specifically eyes. My first finished art piece was the Afghan Girl on the cover of national geographic, and from then i knew that art could portray more than just what is seen on the surface, but can hold deph and meaning. Over time my work has evolved from simple portraiture into a more expressive approach, blending realism with surreal elements to explore emotions, identity, and social themes.

I primarily work with Acrylic and oil paints, using bold colors and detailed figures against simple, solid backgrounds. My art is deeply personal, often reflecting my own experiences and thoughts whether Intentional or not. However, I want it to be a glimpse into the self for others as well, to help them connect with their own emotions and perspectives.

As a hispanic woman, I often paint women of color and explore themes of justice, resilience, and identity. My goal is to create pieces that spark thought, encourage self- reflection, and most importantly, make people feel understood. Whether you see a part of yourself in my work or interpret it in a way that speaks to your own experiences, I hope my paintings leave you with something meaningful.

Art has always been my way of processing life. Some days I struggle with it, and other days I can’t imagine doing anything else. But at the end of the day, I know this is what i’m meant to do, not just for myself, but for those who find something in my work that resonates in that moment.

Thank you for being here :)
